Gorgeous. Lots of wildlife. Was way stoked cause we just happen to see a mountain lion yesterday early morning at about 4am from about 30 yards away. That's the closest I've ever been to one (that I know of...) Then later that day saw some deer and elk.
Beautiful! We camped, fished and did a scavenger hunt hosted by the forest service. We had a lot of fun learning about the different reservoirs, our favorite was learning about the mammoth discovery site. We enjoyed fishing the many reserviors, all within close proximity to our camp at Millers Flat. We saw many deer that even came close to our camp. Bring lots of water, not many places to refill and prepare for a lot of bugs that bite!
Morning walk not too far from home. It is amazing to live in such a beautiful place!
Stunning and remote are the best words to describe the Colorado side of this forest. The drive up from Paradox is arresting as you quickly climb far above the Paradox Valley and into almost a high desert forest, with mostly pine trees. Abundant wildlife, I've seen deer both times among other, smaller creatures. Eventually, you'll come to the jewel of the forest, Buckeye Reservoir. It's a lovely lake with some free camping. Highly recommended
Beautiful in fall. At 10,000 feet there are multiple lakes. Amazing beauty. Great place to watch a sunset
